Irena Dumicz – singer/dancer

Irena has been studying flamenco with local and international artists across Canada as well as prominent flamenco teachers in Jerez de la Frontera and Seville, Spain.

She has been an active member of flamenco communities in Halifax (NS), Kelowna (BC) and Edmonton (AB). Recipient of The Canada Council for The Arts Grant in 2010, Irena regularly returns to Spain to study flamenco dance and singing.

Irena integrates flamenco danced ( baile) and flamenco song (cante) in her artistic endevours.

Between 2007 and 2009 she performed with Maria Osende Flamenco Company in Halifax. She also served as a Chair on the Atlantic Flamenco Festival Board.
Since October 2015, Irena has been collaborating with Halifax based flamenco group, Flamenco en Rouge, in three productions (Re-encuento Flamenco, Luna Flamenca). Irena was also an invited guest at Flamenco Moorish Night presented by Flamenco Calgary in January 2017.

Living in Edmonton, Irena has been teaching flamenco and performing with Flamenco con Tres.

She also was a performer at the fundraisers for Edmonton Flamenco Festival: Flamenco at the Arts Barn in 2015 and Flamenco at The AGA in 2016.
Irena has been involved in creating Flamenco Society of Edmonton as its founding member. She has been serving on the Flamenco Society Board since October 2015.
