Levels

Flamenco 1 – Beginner – Thursdays from 6-7pm

For those with little or no flamenco experience and those wanting to review and improve their skills with 4 count rhythm. Character shoes or any shoes with a sturdy heel would be fine for beginner students.

This class works with some of the basic elements of flamenco dance: arms, footwork, movement and clapping. Students will gain an understanding of flamenco terminology, rhythm, music, and structure as they learn how to dance, clap, and improvise within the 4 count.

The upcoming series will focus on improvisation within the song and learning to accompany other dancers with clapping.

Flamenco 2 – Beg/Int – Thursdays from 7-8pm

For intermediate students and those that have taken a few sessions of the beginner level and are ready for a new challenge.

This class provides a strong base for understanding the 12 count and an introduction to floreo (flamenco hand movement). Depending on the level of attendees, a more advanced option for steps given will be made available to those students needing a challenge. Along with technique, we will be working to dance, clap, and improvise within the 12 count.

The upcoming series will focus on dancing bulerias solo and in pairs and learning to accompany with clapping.

Flamenco 3 – Int/Adv – Thursdays from 8-9pm

For advanced students and intermediate students that are ready for a bigger challenge.

This class is tailored to the level of the students. Depending on the level of attendees, a simplified option for steps given will be made available to those students wanting it. Along with technique, we will be working to dance, clap, and develop choreography. Palos taught will vary by session.

Upcoming series – Along with technique, we will continue to work with Caña with a focus on pulling the whole piece together. If you haven’t attended this level at all since September, please contact me before registering.
