I’m giving a free 20 min teaser flamenco lesson at Sugar Swing’s Open House this Friday. David Jay will be there to accompany on guitar and afterwards beginner students will give a short demo of what they learned this past Fall.

Wondering what my classes are like? Just want a fun night to catch up and move with fellow dancers? Flamenco happens at 7:30. Stay for the night and get a taste of all Sugar Swing has to offer including House, Jazz, Blues, Flamenco, and more!

This is an evening of mainly social dancing, 20-30min lessons, and demonstrations, along with free snacks/drink, socializing, Q&A.

Performance and masterclass in Edmonton!

I have been invited to participate in “The Magpie Collection – A Dance Festival” at Mile Zero Dance this July.

As part of the festival, I will be teaching a class in flamenco rhythm and body percussion on Tuesday, July 23rd from 12:00 – 1:30.

As well, Rosanna Terracciano and I are collaborating for a flamenco dance piece “ALONE” on July 27th.

ALONE – One of the greatest challenges of working as a flamenco artist outside of Spain (and especially as a prairie artist in Canada) is the scarcity of other flamencos to interact with on a regular basis. Flamenco is such a complicated and interactive artform, yet we often find ourselves isolated – conversing with imagined musicians, dancers, and singers – preparing for the brief moments when we will finally get to react to each other in performance. How do we prepare for those brief moments of togetherness? How do we perform flamenco when there’s no one to perform with?

Student Social

We didn’t have a chance to go out for tea/coffee and socializing during classes this year so I’m proposing a meetup this coming Thursday, June 6th from 7-8pm in the Whyte avenue area. This is a great time to get to know fellow students and connect with the community outside of classes.

If you have taken class from me at any point since September and would like to join us, please let me know via email, my contact form, or social media DM and I will send you the details.

Hope to see you there!

Performance in Edmonton!

UPDATE: This show is now sold out!

A rare opportunity to experience Flamenco as it is meant to be: live and up close.

Flamenco at the Yardbird
Sunday, May 12th, 2024
7:30 pm
Yardbird Suite, Edmonton

At long last I can announce that I will be back performing flamenco piano and dance in Edmonton at the Yardbird Suite on Sunday, May 12th (Mother’s Day) at 7:30pm.

The lineup for this show is fantastic. I’m so thrilled to be performing with my longtime friends and colleagues: dancers Claire Marchand (Vancouver) and Rosanna Terracciano (Calgary); and guitarist Peter Mole (Vancouver); as we collaborate with singer Celedonio Garrido (Spain), for an intimate evening of flamenco dance, guitar, piano, and song.

This project had been percolating for the past year when a sudden opportunity to work with Cele popped up this Spring inspiring us to bring it to fruition in May. We’re so pleased the Yardbird was able to accomodate his available dates.
