Fall Flamenco

Due to the upcoming Flamenco workshop with Crisitina Hall and David de Alcala and a trip abroad at the end of September my fall classes will not begin until October 5th.

Classes will be running on Sundays at Marr-Mac dance. Details to follow soon.

In order to determine the levels needed, I would really appreciate hearing from interested students that have taken the “Intro to Flamenco” level and are looking for the next level. A short email indicating your interest can be sent to:

flamenca at mail dot com

please do not hesitate to email me with any other questions, concerns, ideas or feedback.

Hope to see you this fall!

Jane

Flamenco classes in May and June

In May and June, I will be running general technique and review classes. If you have missed a lot of classes, are feeling like you need to fine-tune things, or just need to feed your flamenco addiction, these are for you.

Classes are run on a modified drop-in basis. If you are interested in attending, please let me know which classes you will commit to on the following dates. Classes will only run when enough students will be there. As a student, you can commit to as much or as little as you like but I will hold you to that commitment and total fees for the classes you have chosen are due up front (therefore please do not let me know of ‘possible’ attendance dates, just the ones you will commit to for sure).

The deadline to inform me of your attendance is May 2nd.

On May 3rd I will update everyone with the schedule of classes that are set to run.

Final class this Sunday

This Sunday April 20th is the final group class for all levels. It is only open to current students and those that have dropped in at some time in this session. Observers are not able to sit in on this class.

The schedule will be as follows:

1:00 – each group will have a chance to review and prepare their dance together, followed by a general warm up as a group

1:30 – performances will take place in this order:
Tangos choreography, Fandangos de Huelva, Soleá por Bulerías.
There will be a Tangos jam open to everyone present at the end. If there is interest in doing the same for Bulerías and Sevillanas, we can do so as well.

2:00 – we will watch some videos and then head off to Remedy for food/beverage/conversation

Please note the class runs from 1:00 – 2:30 for all levels.

No classes this Sunday

Just a reminder that classes will not be held this Sunday because of Easter break.  A group of us are meeting for drinks on Sat. and all are welcome.  More information here on the Edmonton Flamenco webpage.    (and a gentle reminder to put yourself on the mailing list for that website, if you haven’t done so already.   See how to do that here.)

How to stay up to date on flamenco happenings….

There is a new FAQ page with helpful information on how to keep yourself informed with what’s going on in the flamenco community. Check it out here.

Keeping yourself up to date means you won’t miss out on events like the Alma de Espana concert on April 12th, or Fiesta Gitana on April 18th, both events taking place in Calgary.

REMINDER:

There will not be a class on Sunday, February 17 for the Family Day long weekend.

Paco Pena is in concert at the Winspear that night.

Classes resume on the 24th.
