Happy New Year! – 2019 was a fantastic year for flamenco in Edmonton. We had Sonia Olla & Ismael Fernández here with their guests for the Edmonton Flamenco Festival in April, the Flamenco Society of Edmonton’s Community Show in May, Farru was performing and teaching in late October and we finished off the year with Carmen Ledesma teaching at the end of November.
Looking forward to an exciting 2020!

Beginners – if you’re ready to get actual flamenco shoes, please see my RESOURCES page for a list of websites you can get them from. Those that carry shoes have an * after their name. Well known shoe maker Menkes has 2 new styles of very reasonably priced beginner shoes for women – http://menkesflamenco.com/americas/en/19-mks-shoes
Level IVs – if you’re hoping to have a class this semester, please register by the early-bird deadline. If not enough have committed to class, I will be opening up that time slot to a new beginner class.

EDMONTON FLAMENCO FESTIVAL – March 12th – 15th
Save the date for the Edmonton Flamenco Festival featuring guest artists from Spain! I’m beyond thrilled to be bringing dancer El Oruco from Seville who has been my mentor since 2010.
He has such an incredible sense of rhythm and is a generous teacher known among his students for his warm and generous persona. His technique classes are deadly, compas classes are the best out there, and the steps he teaches leave you inspired. His wife Karolina, is an excellent dancer and a wonderful teacher as well. She has an incredible ability to break things down in a way that makes everything click (and stick).
It’s going to be a great festival this year.
Mainstage show at the Winspear – March 13th – tickets now available!
Workshops – March 14th and 15th – Info coming soon
