Final flamenco class this Friday

Dear Students,

It has recently come to my attention that my emails are beginning to end up in student’s spam/junk mail folder. If you are receiving these update emails and would like to continue to receive them (as well as the class notes links I send out during a session) please do add my email address to your “safe list”. Even if you haven’t had trouble receiving them in the past, it seems that at some point soon they may be redirected if you haven’t specifically flagged my email address as non-spam/junk.

A reminder that our final flamenco class of this session is this Friday night from 6:30 – 8:00 for all levels.  This class is only open to current students and those that have dropped in during in this session. Observers/guests/family/friends are not able to sit in on this class.

I will give each group a little time to review their dance first. Next we’ll do a group warm up, each level will present their piece, we’ll watch a few flamenco video clips and head off for a coffee at a local cafe. If you are a current student but have missed a lot of classes this session and won’t be part of the presentation of pieces, please do join us as an audience member to get a taste of what other students have learned, see some inspirational video and meet other flamencos in our community.

Registration information for next session will be posted in late December.

Hope to see you in class!

Jane

Upcoming Classes and Student Performance Group

Dear Students,

Class info is coming out this week! Stay tuned for a workshop with Stephanie Pedraza on the weekend of Oct. 12/13.

I am hoping to set up a small performance group with the goal of giving students the opportunity to perfect a choreography, develop confidence in performing and begin to understand the workings behind putting on a small show, whether we set it up ourselves or find performance opportunities in the community.

This group is aimed at students who are interested in any or all of the following:

  • performing as a solo dancer
  • performing as a dancer within a group
  • learning to support with palmas and jaleo
  • working behind the scenes on organization and logistics

All levels can be involved. The idea is that you will be involved to the extent you are interested and able. My goal is to bring students together for performance so there is opportunity to put your learning into practice.

All interested students are invited to come to a meeting on
Friday, September 20th at 7pm where we will discuss expectations, logistics and possibilities.
Please RSVP for the location (janeogilvie at mail dot com).

If you are interested but unable to attend, please let me know so we can keep you in the loop for future meetings.
